This month we celebrated Anthony, Kamani, Jose, Victor and Tiaiuna for successfully completing probation. They are #BreakingCycles and taking huge steps forward– away from the system and into their futures! We applaud their commitment and determination to their personal growth and healing.
Through partnerships with Oakland Unite and The Mentoring Center, two CURYJ staff members were trained on Life Coaching last year. The intensive mentorship focuses on coaching young adults on probation through a range of opportunities and challenges while also connecting them to a community of healing and organizing. Our Life Coaches have worked with 30 unduplicated young adults so far and have witnessed them learn how to self-advocate, secure permanent jobs and housing, start therapy, complete probation and take on leadership roles within their families and communities.
Help us empower more young people to break the cycle of incarceration and powerlessness by making a donation to CURYJ so that we can continue Life Coaching.
