CURYJ Awarded a $450,000 Grant from Forward Promise
Oakland, CA November 7, 2017 – Forward Promise, a national grantmaking program of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, announced grant awards of $3.15 million to nine organizations, including Communities United for Restorative Youth Justice. The initiative supports boys and young men of color heal, grow, and thrive through culturally-responsive healing models in community-based settings.
Communities United for Restorative Youth Justice, an organization led by formerly incarcerated leaders, received a $450,000 grant through this initiative to strengthen their restorative justice and healing centered organizing.

Forward Promise is a national program funded by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF) to support culturally-responsive practices that buffer the effects of historical and systemic trauma on boys and young men of color.
