We stand in support of Prisoners United Hunger Strike to end indefinite solitary confinement and arbitrary classification reviews.
Prisoners United have begun a hunger strike that will include 2 counties and 4 jails. People locked up in Santa Clara County Main Jail, Elmwood D.O.C, Glenn Dyer Detention Center and Santa Rita Jail are asking for community support to bring awareness to the hunger strike and urge the Counties to meet their reasonable demands:
- End: Meaningless Classification Reviews
- End: Indefinite Solitary Confinement
- End: Group Punishment
- End: Arbitrary Practices of Cruel and Unusual Punishment During Unstructured Programming (Time Out of Cell)
- End: Rigid Family/Friends Visitation Policies

NEXT STEPS: The community will mobilize on November 9th to support Prisoners United at a Public Protections Hearing at 1221 Oak Street at 10am. There will be a rally outside the building at 9am to bring awareness to the cruel and unusual punishment and inhumane living conditions, due to arbitrary classification reviews and the torturous practice of solitary confinement.
